The mission of Pădurea Copiilor (The Children’s Forest) is to establish forests in 100 communities across the South-Muntenia Region by 2035—one of the areas in Romania most exposed to climate change due to the severe lack of forest cover.

Pădurea Copiilor works directly to protect and restore ecosystems throughout Romania, while also educating and engaging individuals and organizations in afforestation efforts, forest protection, and responsible entrepreneurship.

The Association runs two main programs: the “Pădurea Copiilor” afforestation program and PEPI (Educational, Participatory and Inclusive Nursery). Through these programs, it carries out activities such as forest establishment, landscape design, the creation of green spaces and recreational forests, as well as organizing volunteer actions and environmental education activities for all ages. 

Since 2016, Pădurea Copiilor has afforested 255 hectares of degraded land, planting over 2.3 million saplings with the help of 13,470 volunteers, across 51 communities in southern Romania.
